Reconstitution by judgment

The reconstitution of civil status documents through the court is a legal procedure intended for people who, for various reasons, cannot present copies of officially registered civil status documents (birth, marriage, death). These documents are essential for establishing a person's identity and for carrying out various administrative or legal procedures. If a civil status document has been lost, destroyed or cannot be found, its reconstitution through court is an available option.

When is it necessary to reconstitute civil status documents?

Reconstitution by court of civil status documents is possible in the following situations:

  1. Loss of the original document : If the civil status document has been lost or destroyed (for example, by fire, flood or other events).
  2. Inaccurate or incomplete civil status documents : When the information in the civil status document is wrong or incomplete and cannot be corrected through normal administrative procedures.
  3. The documents were not properly registered : In case the documents were not registered or were not issued by the competent authorities.
  4. Inability to obtain the document from the competent authority : When the document cannot be obtained for legal or administrative reasons, such as political or institutional instability in the country where the initial registration was made.
