The marriage between a citizen of the Republic of Moldova and a foreign citizen involves a series of legal acts and procedures, in order to be officially recognized. The necessary documents must be properly prepared, sometimes notarized and translated.

Required documents :

1. Identity documents : The passport of the foreign citizen and the bulletin or passport of the Moldovan citizen.
2. The birth certificates of both future spouses, in original and, where applicable, with a legalized translation.
3. Proof of marital status : Divorce or death certificate of the ex-spouse, if one of the partners was previously married.
4. Certificate of matrimonial capacity : Document issued by the authorities of the foreign national's country confirming that he is fit to marry, translated and apostilled if necessary.
5. Marriage application : Submitted to the civil status office, completed and signed by both partners.
